This is an autobiography, recounting journey from Punjab, India, to Kenya amidst the backdrop of World War II. The author's father and his partner ventured into a furniture making business, but unfortunate circumstances left the business in debt upon his return from India. Despite efforts to unite as a joint family, his brother turned against my father, burdening me with responsibilities typical of Indian culture and upbringing. The political unrest in Kenya due to the Mau Mau uprising further strained my father's financial situation. As I grew older and began working, my wages supported the household. More... in the book.
