The Past Is Never Dead follows Kalu, a Dalit boy from rural Punjab who migrates with his family to the UK, only to find that caste discrimination and racism continue to shape their lives abroad. The story tracks his rise as an educated professional, his inter-caste marriage to Simran, and the devastating honour killing that follows, forcing him to seek justice while raising their son and caring for his parents. The story shows how caste prejudice survives migration, infiltrates diaspora communities, and must be actively confronted for dignity, love, and justice to be possible.
