$19.95

Default Title

Examined, collated and synthesized in this book are the empirical findings of the recent studies on sexuality in India, generated mostly by the advent of AIDS in the country. It discusses the select aspects of sexual behavior : Pre-marital sex, extra-marital sex, female sex workers and their clients, homo-sexuality, eunuch and male sex workers, use of condoms, and sexual abstinence -- particularly in the urban areas of India, and brings out those specific observations as are relevant to the transmission of HIV. An introductory chapter describes the current HIV/AIDS and STD situation in India and the book closes with a chapter which identifies priorities for research on sexual behaviour in the country. Enough references for further reading have also been incorporated.
