Rabindranath Tagore, one of the great sons of India, was a genius in many ways. Krishna Kriplani (1907-1992), a freedom fighter, began his career as a teacher in Santiniketan. Between 1933 and 1941 he worked in close association with Rabindranath Tagore and edited Visva-Bharati Quarterly the journal started by Tagore. He was the first secretary of the Sahitya Akademi from 1954 to 1971. A nominated member of Rajya Sabha from 1974 to 1980, a Padmabhushan recipient, he was also the Chairman of National Book Trust, India, from 1980 to 1985.
